Mobile companies provide coverage by dividing the area into smaller areas called as Cells or sectors. Each cell is given wireless coverage by 3-6 antennas fixed in specific directions, mounted on a tower. Usually tower is located in the center of the cell. When mobile is powered on, it continuously remains in communication with a specific antenna. Mobile companies can check at anytime that a specific mobile number is in which cell and to be more specific on which antenna to know more accurate position. For example DHA is a cell and a specific antenna on a tower is giving wireless coverage to Phase-1 of DHA. 
Friend in a Mobile company
Few technical engineers of a mobile company have access to the monitoring system to find location of a number or mobile (IMEI). However your friend or relative working in a mobile company can do this by using his contacts. 

Law imposing or Intelligence agencies 
Secret agencies of Pakistan like ISI and MI have access to the system to trace location of a specific mobile number. Police can also do this but to limited extend. If you have some contact there you can use it. 

Location based services of Mobile companies 
If you have access to the Mobile of the person you want to track. You can accept request on that mobile once and you can track it later via following location based services of mobile companies.

You can use either technology as a stand-alone service and also incorporate them into secondary devices, such as personal data assistants.

ACCURACY

The availability of signals for positioning and the accuracy of positioning lead to the principle difference between GPS and GSM. In general, GPS devices require a clear view of the sky, although you can receive reliable information with increased sensitivity even with obstructions. Still, GPS devices will experience problems if they are surrounded by tall buildings. Conversely, GSM provides locations by using closely-spaced base stations, even in tunnels and dense areas where GPS can’t provide information. If there are no base stations, GSM devices can’t provide positioning.

GPS is the newer technology for mobile tracking. It can track the location of a mobile device or phone in real time by using digital maps, such as Google maps, and compatible applications, and is mostly used in smartphones. GSM, on the other hand, triangulates the location of a cell phone in a network by using the phone’s international mobile equipment identity, or IMEI, number.

LOCALIZATION

If your mobile phone has a GPS chip, it must be on if you want to locate it using actual GPS satellites. If your mobile phone does not have a GPS chip, or if it is turned off, then GSM localization will triangulate the position using the three closest GSM base stations. Localization using GSM will work to provide your general position, and it also saves your cell phone battery, but it can’t provide precise position information.

How to trace the location of a phone .

Hey guys just found this nifty little trick out and this will show you how to locate a Android cell phone and how you can find it if it is stolen or see where a loved one may be if you think he/she is cheating or lying.

Step one sign into their gmail account.
Step two visit: https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
From there you can see where the phone is and you can make it ring and wipe it or lock it.

If you do not have a loved ones email then simply pull it off their computer or let them log into yours sometime and get it. Hope this can help guys. Take care
